We can make adjustments to clocks in clients’ homes depending on the service required.
We collect, deliver and set up clocks ourselves to ensure they arrive safely.
There is no charge for estimating repair costs, we want you to be able to decide on whether the price is affordable.
An overhaul includes a complete dismantle, repair and clean of the clock mechanism but is not limited to this.
After many years of service, the pivots of the mechanism will need to be refinished and burnished to reduce friction in the mechanism. If a pivot is so worn or damaged beyond practicable repair, replacing the pivot may be necessary.
This is where we find the original centre of worn bearings, correct and re-bush where necessary.
If there are any worn surfaces, for example the pallets of the escapement or some striking components. components can be refaced to remedy worn acting surfaces.
In our workshop, parts can be replaced or recreated along with the replacement of broken or ineffective mainsprings.
Longcase clocks are usually weight driven, we can replace the driving weight line so the mechanism gives reliable service.
Once the wear and tear has been addressed the mechanism is assembled and lubricated. After assembly, the mechanism is tested out of the case and without the dial to highlight any faults or adjustments that may be required.
All mechanisms are tested, along with some final timekeeping adjustments. Prior to customer delivery
